Production Update 3/25

All of my filming and sound is done so all I need to do now is edit everything together.  I originally started using Capcut to edit everything together but that was maybe one of the worst ideas I could have had. The browser was so slow that I wasted hours just waiting for things to load or the video to render. On top of that, Capcut would randomly freak out and delete half my work. I spent a day editing like this but then finally got fed up after way to many hours so I switched to Clipchamp.  Climpchamp was a million times easier to use and barely needed time for my images and videos to process so once I started using it, I finished editing within a couple hours. There were still a few problems though since I edited things in sections on Capcut I had to download the work I had already done (which took forever) and then try and configure them on Clipchamp. This was definitely easier with the latter software than it would be with the former but it still took longer than I ...

I finished the news animations so I filmed the last thing today. I had to use my one and only prop (the TV) but it decided to not work at all. I had no idea how to use it so I was calling Cristian and getting his help to set it up through the phone. But it's his older brother's TV so he also had no clue to use it. Eventually he had to come over and help because it wasn't working at all and just showing static.  It took us (actually just Cristian, I'm one of the least tech savvy people to exist) around 40 minutes to an hour to get everything working. Thirty or so minutes of which was spent with the TV plugged into a faulty outlet. Another 20 was spent not realizing that the TV had a remote that we were missing which Cristian had to drive back to his house to get. But, somehow, someway he eventually got it working.  The filming didn't go exactly how I planned. I planned to have my cat be a prominent character but since Cristian was over helping with the TV she was hi...

I didn't plan to end up filming today, for my film at least. I went with my friends to a nature park to start filming for their openings but since we were surrounded by so many pretty looking flowers and trees I decided to take a few pictures and videos for my own opening.  I didn't originally plan for the flower segment to have both real life and animation so I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to include the pictures and videos that I took today, especially because I took so many. But, I really like how some of the pictures/videos came out so I'm hoping I can find a way to put them in and have them look good alongside the animations.

Production Update 3/16

I started the last sections of animation that I have to do which is the news report. This one is a lot harder to do since I am just straight up awful at drawing people. Also, I've never tried to animate someone talking so... you learn how to do something new everyday I guess.  I wasn't able to finish either section but I got the main idea down for both character's sections and decided on their designs. I'll be able to finish them by tomorrow or the next day at the latest.

I've finished my poppy animation so I've begun working on the lily. It's probably my least favorite of the bunch though. The white flower was difficult to shade because I didn't want the gray to be too pronounced and the color ended up seeming too warm in the end because I was trying to go for a cooler tone but it ended up just making the flower took kind of blueish-gray so I changed the color palate a few times I've gotten a lot faster at making these little animations though so this whole lily segment only took me about two days, It also is the shortest one though which was definitely a contributing factor.  This is the last animated flower segment that I'm doing which is very exciting, these felt like they took forever.

I've continued drawing the different flowers that I'm using for my title sequence. I've done a bit of research into the meaning and symbolism of different flowers and picked three that I wanted, its similar to what I had in my screenplay but with some differences.  What I picked:  Sunflower - I didn't pick sunflowers for their symbolic meaning because usually they are used to represent happiness or positive things. I decided to include a sunflower from the beginning because they are directly connected to the sun which is very important to the overall concept of my film. Poppy - Symbolize death or mourning  Lily - rebirth and love  I've begun working on the poppy and finished about half of the frames in 3 days. I had trouble drawing the perspective of the front petals so it's taken a while.
